SANTORINI
Well spent weekend on Greece's most famous.
Santorini is maybe in the top 5 Instagramable places people want to go but I feel free to say that it's a bit overrated. Still it has some breathtaking spots and sunsets to die for. In this guide you can find few tips on how to see Santorini in less touristy and more local way.
General tips
There is not much to see on Santorini, island is more famous for beautiful hotels where people come to relax by the pool with one hell of a view. For this reason if you are an adventurer, maybe skip this destination. But if you still wish to visit Santorini just that you can cross it off the list, there are ways to make it an adventure. To do so, you need to rent a scooter!
Pygros
It's a village on the hill and for me personally, the most beautiful place because it's completely local. Over there you can find several amazing locations to watch the sunset. There are restaurants around every corner, but the one that caught my attention is called Kantouni. It is a local tavern and if you eat there, order "kontosouvli" it is a typical meal from the island, some appetizer wrapped in a wine leaf, very interesting!
Firá
Capital of the island, full of shops, restaurants, bars and tourists.. Suggestion to go for a walk and drink coffee in some of those bars with outstanding views. Galini Café would be a warm recommendation, also they offer a quite tasty breakfast!
Around the island
The best you can do is to discover the island with the scooter you rented. Apart from the capital Fira, famous Oia (amazing sunset) and Imerovigli, there are few more points you need to see. On the very south of the island there is an old lighthouse, Akrotiri Lighthouse which gives amazing view on Aegean Sea. Make sure to have a swim on the Red Beach or the Black beach. Black beach is located in Parissa where I also had a very good breakfast in a place called Tranquilo. To get an idea of everything look at the photos below.
